DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Travel from Tangier to Fez

Welcome to our tours from Spain to Morocco. Our Guide driver will be waiting for you at the port of Tangier to greet you and then take you on a trip to Fez. Today is the day of time travel! Going back in time, this journey will take you from imperial Rome to the ninth century A.D. Unlike the movies, this temporal voyage will take almost the entire day. (There will be, of course, stops along the way.) This first stop will be the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, and you will finish your day in the majestic city of Fez, founded in the 9th century. Volubilis was a critical city in the imperial Roman department of Mauritania (modern-day Morocco and Western Sahara) during the reign of Caracalla. Volubilis is impressively well-preserved, and the genius of Roman urbanism remains intact. The two central integral streets in every Roman castrum, the Cardo and Decumanus, are prominent. The Cardo is the north-south boulevard, and the Decumanus is the east-west one. The intersection of the two is the heart of every Roman city. There, you will find the ruins of the ancient forum. Jumping forward in time and just a few minutes away is the venerated citadel of Moulay Idris, founded in the 8th century by Moulay Idris Al Akbar, grandson of the Prophet Mohamed (s.a.w.s). This citadel is considered the cradle of Sufism in Moroccan society and the first Islamic capital for the premier Arab dynasty. Created primarily for the indigenous population, the citadel of Moulay Idris has become a central destination for those who cannot afford to make a pilgrimage to Makkah for the Hajj duty. The next stop is the imperial city of Meknes. Finally, you have reached your destination, the ninth-century city of Fez. In the evening, you will taste the greatest of the Imperial Cities. You will visit the sights on the outside of the great walled city, including the ramparts, the gates, and the forts (Moorish Forts). After this introductory aperitif in Fez, you will dine at your hotel and prepare for your full-day tour of Fez.

Day 2: Guided tour of Fez Medina

The best highlight of your trip to Morocco from Spain is about to unfold for you. Be ready to walk for! Fez is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest exclusively pedestrian area in the world. Cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and the like are strictly prohibited within the walls of the Medina. Mules are the only permissible form of transportation and are known as the taxis of the Medina. Today, you will dive into the city's heart and experience it from the inside out. The entire day will be devoted to exploring the city, beginning with the Mellah, followed by the King's Palace and the Batha Museum of Moroccan Arts. The remainder of your morning will be spent on a walking tour of the Medina, a walled city with a maze of medieval twisting alleys, blind turns, mosques, shrines, fountains, workshops, and numerous markets. In the early afternoon, when lunch is generally served in Morocco, you have lunch at a typical Moroccan restaurant. After lunch, you will continue to explore the Medina and shop for the remainder of the afternoon, ending with dinner at your hotel.

Day 3: Travel from Fez to Marrakech

Our travel agency provides you with the best guides in the nation to give you the best of Morocco you deserve. You will spend your day discovering the rural environs of the Atlas Mountains, Berber villages, wards, and nomadic settlements. Covered with evergreen pines, tall cedar trees, and poplars and laced with flowing streams, your first view of the Middle Atlas will appear oddly un-Moroccan. Passing by Imouzzer, with a quick stop at the Swiss-like town of Ifrane, you will soon come across the first real town of the Middle Atlas, Azrou.
Azrou is an important market center for Berber tribes, located at a major junction of mountain routes. Your driver will take a little detour in a cedar forest to introduce you to one of the oldest inhabitants of this region, the Barbary apes. This may also coincide with the encounter of a nomadic family at its temporary encampment. As nomads are very hospitable people, we are invited at least for a mint tea under their tents whenever we encounter them.

At Khenifra, the Middle Atlas gives way to the Higher Mountains, whose peaks are visible through the haze, soaring to over 12,000 feet. After lunch, you will descend the Atlas Mountains, finally arriving in the foothills overlooking the magnificent oasis city of Marrakech Alhamra. Some of the aforementioned stops will include visits to Berber villages, scenic views, and traditional markets. You will conclude your day with dinner and other accommodations at your hotel.

Day 4: Guided Historic Tour of Marrakech

You will devote your morning to exploring Marrakech's many historical sites, starting at the Menara, a magnificent pool surrounded by flowerbeds that reflects the image of an exquisite Moorish edifice. It was constructed in 1866 for dignitaries who enjoyed glorious sunsets with the ethereal Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. The pool also serves as an innovative irrigation system, providing water to dry land in the desert.
Your tour will cover many impressive sites, including the Koutoubia Minaret (identical to la Giralda, a tower found in Sevilla, Spain) and the Saadian tombs, demonstrating Moorish architecture at its best. The tombs consist of sixteenth-century mausoleums, which had lain walled-in and undiscovered until 1917. Next, you will explore the gardens of the Agdal and then the Marjorelle. Finally, you will return to your hotel for dinner and other accommodations

Day 5: Transfer from Marrakech to Rabat

In the morning, after your breakfast, you will depart for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. This is a beautiful drive of about 145 miles through the lash farms and nurseries of flowers and exotic plants. You will reach Rabat. Styled in a spaciously elegant European grid, yet slightly self-conscious of its modernity, Rabat and its twin city Sala Colonia, separated by only a river but historically worlds apart, have an ancient legacy spanning hundreds of generations. Each civilization that inhabited each town left its mark, resulting in various architectural styles, including those from the Phoenician and Roman eras. You will spend your day discovering the delights that Rabat has to offer. Your guide will take you on a lively historical tour starting at the Jewish quarter, the Mellah in the Heart of the city at Place Sidi Makhlouf. The 12-century ramparts are best seen from this and up to Bab Chellah, and visit the medina across Sidi Fateh St. This will lead you to the traditional Souk Laghzel (Yarn market). Your guide will introduce you to the importance of this guild in a textile role in Moroccan society. Later, you will cross to the citadel of the Oudaya Kasbah, entering from its 12th-century main gate to explore an extraordinary Medieval Moorish marvel overlooking the delta of the Bourgreg River. You will have the opportunity to visit the Moorish old-fashioned gardens, the traditional coffee house, and the Oudaya museum of tribal arts and crafts in between.

You will continue your quest by exiting the Oudaya Kasbah and up the hill to visit the Hassan Tower and sample the actual Moroccan architecture at its best at Mohamed the V Mausoleum. From here, we will drive through the boulevards and Gardens of Rabat, visiting the Saint Pierre Cathedral, the Parliament, the Sounna Mosque, and the Royal Palace through the magnificent Ramparts and tower standing proud and glorious to reach the Necropolis of Chellah at the end. We will return to the hotel for dinner and other accommodations.

Day 6: Travel from Rabat to Chefchaouen then Tangier

After breakfast, you will travel directly to the Blue City of Chefchaouen, where our local guide will be at your disposal to take a historic tour. After lunch, you will have some free time, and then you will travel to Tangier. We will drive you up the scenic coastal road back to Tangier, where you will take your ferry back to Spain. Come back and visit Morocco for your next vacation. We hope you have enjoyed our six-day tour from Spain to Morocco. Come back for more tours to Morocco.
